Commercial, home or non profit, daycare will augment your family income, but will never make you a millionaire. Daycare providers are always in demand, and anyone choosing that profession will never be in need of a job if they move or want to change jobs.

Health, strength and youth are a great advantage to daycare providers. Though the work can be routine at time, caring for children can be physically, mentally and emotionally wearing. Daycare providers must be constantly on the alert. Their charges require continuous attention and care, as well as a whole heap of patience.

Care givers need to be on their feet virtually the whole day. They will automatically bend over an umpteen number of times to listen to the opinions and concerns of little persons 1-2 feet tall, lift them up, carry them around, and always have a smile on their faces. To say this is tiring when done over a long period of time would be an understatement.

Working hours vary for daycare providers. Many child care centers do not close until all the children have been picked up. Parents and guardians running behind schedule frequently means over time and frustration for daycare providers who often have to postpone any personal plans they had for that day.

Many daycare providers employed by child care institutions work at least 40 or 50 hours a week. The hours for self employed and part time daycare providers vary. The self employed daycare providers sometimes being called upon to mind their charges for 70 or more hours a week. The part time employees can often work as little or as much as they like.

Any job is difficult and child minding is no exception. However, the turnover rate of employees in this sector is particularly high in the child care industry due to its many disadvantages (low pay, lack of benefits, frustrating hours, physically and mentally exhausting conditions…). Experienced hands retire from the ranks early and leave enthusiastic bright eyed innocents to fill their ranks.

In all fairness, many daycare providers like their jobs and find teaching and caring for tiny tots a very rewarding experience. Preschool teachers, teacher helpers and daycare providers account for over three quarters of salary jobs in the country today. Daycare service providing is also the number one choice in the self employment industry for individuals wishing to work from their homes.

Unlike the many other jobs that you will find the idea of caring for children calls for a unique individual. Without these many daycare providers many parents would find their busy lives even more busy and frustrating. Leading to unhappy parents and very unhappy children.

Looking after small children on a professional basis is one that daycare providers are familiar with. For these people their employment can be based on the job that they take. For the most part these daycare providers will work in daycare centers and in homes. There are individuals who take care of the babies of other families, and these infant nurses provide the necessary infant daycare the parents require.

You may wonder why any infant will need to have infant daycare right? Well the daycare that a baby gets is very different from the care that is required for older children. In the case of a need for infant daycare the infant nurse will take over all the needs a baby has.

This means that when the baby gets hungry the nurse will feed the baby with nutritious food. The baby’s dirty clothes will be washed and put out to dry. The baby will also have a good washing up too. This cleansing of the infant will be done with care as the infant daycare nurse is completely responsible for the safety of the baby. The food the infant needs like that of milk will be given in well sterilized bottles.

Once all of these tasks have been done the infant daycare nurse will need to clean the baby’s sleeping area. This will ensure that no germs or dust is allowed to accumulate and harm the baby’s health. The infant daycare nurse will also have the responsibility to see that their charge is in then best of health, and if not to react accordingly to the situation.

They might need to have their small charge taken for a check up as well, and everything that goes along with that duty. They will be required to take the baby out for some fresh air all the while being careful not to keep the baby out for too long. Now, this might sound like the role of a nanny to you, and you wouldn’t be far wrong.

As things go, an infant daycare nurse is somewhat along the lines of a very well trained nanny. The only difference is that whereas a nanny would normally be employed on a longer term basis, the infant daycare nurse is only there for a set period of time. This could be for any length of time to which both have agreed to in the beginning, but for the most part, you will find that an infant daycare nurse is not long with their small charges.

3 Types of Home Daycare Insurance

Posted by chris

If you have a child care, insurance is mandatory for child care. Your home care coverage is provided against all types of property damage and physical damage inflicted on children in local child care. The home-care insurance policies are different for licensed facilities and the installation without a license. If you operate a facility without a permit, then in all likelihood, your insurance does not provide coverage for your care. There are several insurance companies, including the possibility of an insurance or child care, limited to a separate insurance policy or condominium owners, without premium, while there are other People who charge an additional premium for himself. Before looking for a safe, check with the company that provided property insurance and whether they want to provide coverage under the current policy. On the other hand, if you hold a license to operate, then you must buy a commercial policy which provides cover for child care. An important reason why you should go to an independent policy for all policies to provide coverage of child abuse. Insurance Care Home rates There are basically three types of liability insurance and are: 1. Property insurance or renters insurance: These policies provide coverage for child care on the premises, but are not covered by child abuse. 2. General policy of liability insurance: This insurance covers the services of the local nursery or facility also cover field trips, and child abuse, at no additional cost. 3. Professional Liability / Errors and Omissions Insurance: This policy will provide maximum coverage of care in a home insurance policy. Apart from the standard coverage or general, such insurance cover in case of negligence in the care of children. Some of the aspects covered by this policy include: 1. Anywhere between $ 50,000 and $ 100,000 for child abuse 2. Bodily 3. Accidents in the pool on the premises or even outside the premises 4. Field trips 5. Auto liability related to transportation of children 6. Medical expenses in case of accident can range from $ 5,000 to $ 20,000 per child 7. accidental death in plants The assurance of home care day will also cover legal costs if the parents continued on the basis of the injury or illness of your child. One of the important things you should be aware of the forms is secure. There are two types of forms: a form of presence and claim forms. It is always best to choose the event in the form because it includes a measure that is reported, even after your contract expires. The safe conclusion is that child care is essential to protect your business and your own interest.

My wife is currently pregnant. We had found out her "planned" due date about 3 weeks ago, at which time we told our daycare provider. This was to give her a heads up. Every since this time, she has been giving us guilt trips about planning to take our son out of daycare. (Such as, your son won't learn as much at home, he will lack social skills if you take him out, I won't be able to find anyone to replace him.) Well today we found out one of our family freinds wants to watch him for the last two weeks before the planned birth of our 2nd child. Should we give our daycare provider a week and a few days notice. Or should we just take him out on the last day he is paid for? We have had a smooth relationship with this provider, until the recent guilt trips. We think that she treats our son well, and our son enjoys the daycare. We just don't feel that we should have to endure guilt trips everytime we pick him up. We have no signed contract with this daycare provider.

A brochure is like a walking saleman for your daycare centre. It tells your target customer all about your daycare centre. However, some daycare owners are put off by the high cost of producing one as they are under the impression that it should be produced by professionals. And for a small business, that can be quite daunting. However, producing a brochure can be quite a breeze if you know what to do.

For the copy of the brochure, you can easily do it yourself once you know what you should put inside it. Before we start writing, we first need to understand who you are writing the brochure for; i. e. your target audience. As a daycare owner, your target audience are the parents who wish to put their child at a daycare centre. Some of these parents feel guilty or worried about leaving their children with strangers. Your job is of course to ally their fears and reassure them that their precious little ones are in good hands.

Next, you need to decide what size you’d like your brochure to be; A4, A5 (A4 folded into half), DL (A4 folded into 3 parts), how many colours (will it be 4 colour throughout or 4 colour on the cover and 1 colour on the inside) and the number of pages.

Now you are ready for some copywriting. Here are some information you should consider putting in your brochure.

1. Introduction (How you are different)

Write up a nice and short introduction about your daycare centre. Let the audience know how your daycare centre is different.

2. Mission / Core values / Philosophy

As providing daycare services is a delicate profession, the core values and goals of the daycare centre are probably something which you’d like to communicate to the parents to let them know that their child is in good hands.

3. Pictures of children at play

Add photographs of the children doing different activities in the brochure. Include one on the children at play, one of the children during lessons and one of the children engaging in some interest activities. If possible, include pictures of celebrations such as Children’s Day, Teacher’s Day or graduation. If you are a new business, you may consider getting stock pictures.

4. Programme / Curriculum

Other than caregiving, parents will also be interested to know what’s included in your curriculum. Therefore, list down the subjects that your daycare centre is offering such as art and craft, language, music and drama, etc. And if you are offering other electives such as piano lessons or computer lessons, include that in as well.

5. Quotes / Testimonials

Quote and testimonials lend credibility to your daycare centre. Solicit for quotes from the parents to be included in your brochure. You can choose to have them write their own quotes or you can write it and have them endorse it.

6. Schedule

Include a schedule of the daycare centre’s daily activities so that the parents can have a rough idea of what their child will be doing at your daycare centre.

7. Rates

Include rates and charges. Some owners may not like the idea of publicizing their daycare charges, so it’ll depend on your preference. Personally, I feel that it helps to qualify your customers.

8. Contact details

In your contact details, list not only information such as address, telephone and email but include a map as well. It will be useful for parents who wish to visit your daycare centre. And don’t forget your website address, if you have one.

Now that you’re done with the copy, you are ready to work on the design on a publishing software. You do not need a professional designer. There are many publishing software that can do the job for you. A good example is Microsoft Publisher. There are many nice templates for you to choose from.

Have fun!

Daycare Scheduling Software

Posted by chris

There are many different things that you need to take into consideration when you start a daycare. It is a very detail orientated business and the health and safety of the children should be your main concern.

This is where daycare scheduling software has become a critical part of any daycare business. In the past, all information regarding a child had to be recorded on forms.

Often there were numerous forms that needed to filled out and filed, making the whole process very time consuming. If information changed, it would require a new form to be filled out.

Things like who picks up what child and emergency contacts, and if the child has food allergies; these are all critical pieces of information that you need to access immediately for the safety of the child.

With daycare scheduling software, all of this information is enter under each child’s name and can be accessed with a click of the mouse.

Daycare scheduling software also allows you to keep track of payments for each child. It records each payment and will notify you if there is a balance due.

Daycare centers have very strict rules and regulations. There is a lot at stake, and if something happens to a child because their information was not accessible, you will not only feel terrible, you will also be liable.

When there is more than one person picking up a child on different days, keeping track of who pick up the child on different days of the week can add to the confusion of a chaotic day.

You are only human and mistakes can happen, however, with daycare scheduling software, the confusion is eliminated completely because the software keeps track of the specific information.

Daycare scheduling software is an excellent tool for the business end of your daycare center. It keeps track of all accounts, both receivable and payable, it prints receipts for payments and records all of the necessary information.

One of the biggest concerns of daycare centers is that the children are up to date on all of their shots. This is a requirement that all states in the United States enforce. Daycare scheduling software will alert you as to when a child is due for their immunizations so you can advise the parents.

You want your daycare to succeed safely and effectively. With daycare scheduling software, you can be assured that half the battle with won.

Once Äôve decided that the nursery is the company for you, you must decide how. There are several options you can take to start your daycare. 1. New Beginnings You might consider creating your nursery from scratch. You, Äôll lot of homework to do and put much effort and hard work in the preparatory stages, such as finding a place, planning the layout of your nursery, supervise the renovation work, get your nursery etc. can process take some time, but if you are a very meticulous, organized and resourceful person, doing it yourself save you money. There are many sites that can be equipped with essential information and resources to begin. 2. Buy through an existing nursery You've probably Äôll save much time and planning, compared to a new start. However, there are other concerns that you need to take note. First, you must ensure that the condition of the existing crèche is good or satisfactory, not only physically, but the prospects for business operations. Look closely at the state of play (minor renovations are needed), The State of the assets of the company (it's reusable?) Determine the location (ideal?) Ask for existing accounts audited and rental agreement, etc. You also need to consider Äôll the financial situation of the company to assess the financial health of the company, how is the company to existing nursery is stable or declining enrollment. This will help you determine how much they are willing to offer. Take time to learn about their customers. Survey your customers to better understand. Find out if parents are not happy with current services offered. What is the reason (s) of their children are still enrolled in kindergarten today? Gather as much information as possible about its competitors. Find the number of child care is in a 500 yards away. Know your position and, preferably, the number of children in their care. Have they succeeded? What kind of value added services available to you should take note. You, Äôll must also ensure that all legal matters such as contracts, agreements, licenses, creditors, etc. can be easily solved. 3. Buying a franchise Alternatively, you can consider buying a franchise by a professional franchise. There are several advantages to be gained from purchasing a franchise child care instead of a new start up or buy an existing business. For example, the chances of success, although not guaranteed, are child care that the franchisor would have established a set of best practices and operations. Training will be provided following the transfer of management experience, the learning curve of running a nursery will be much lower. They also make significant savings on items such as the cost of developing a curriculum and marketing that is often borne by the franchisor and the already widespread among all franchisees. However, there may be disadvantages in buying a franchise and franchise fees prohibitive, lack of flexibility in operations or lack of support from the franchisor. There is also the possibility of promotion programs launched by the franchisor can not be adapted to their local market. In conclusion, the option will obviously depend on what you are looking for in the company and the amount of time and resources available. If you're short of funds, but are willing to work overtime, the beginning of a new brand is best for you. If you have less of a risk taker, the assumption of an existing nursery or buying a franchise is very likely to care for you, depending on how many resources you have and how much freedom you expect.

How do I explain to the daycare (a daycare that has been open for 20+ years and probably has been doing this for that long) that microwaving bottles is unsafe? I know 2-3 of the other moms breastfeed and I don't know if they are aware that they are microwaving the bottles. Are there laws against this?
She is breastfed so I'm worried about the microwave destroying the nutrients and antibodies. I've always read that it is NEVER ok to microwave breast milk.

Product Description

The Daycare Provider's Workbook

Many parents will leave their children in daycare centers. While most of these centers will have the best interests of your child in mind there are other centers where the care of your children will be substandard. These places are the main reason why the state and the federal government, require that licensed daycare centers be present. Or in other words, a daycare must first obtain the proper license to be recognized as a daycare.

The main reason why the daycare centers need to be licensed lies in the fact that some of these daycare centers don’t have any facilities to care for their small charges properly. In addition you will find that this license will allow the authorities to visit this licensed daycare and see if the center is being run properly.

As a daycare center is a place where the children sent will be spending quite a lot of time there, the quality of the daycare center should be frequently looked over. The licensed daycare centers allow the children to learn various subjects they will need to know as they progress through the years to the tie when they must go to school.

Additionally the licensed daycare centers will also have well tended equipment that the children can use. In these well run daycare centers the risk and dangers will be minimized as far as possible and the safety and the safety and the care of the child taken to be paramount.

The different subjects that are taught at these licensed daycare centers cover the basics of learning, like drawing, learning the alphabet, sharing items, motor skills, and speech skills as well being able to learn music as well. They will be given the best possible attention in all of these fields to make sure that they have a head start on things when they’re finally at an age where they can step out into the world.

And if the teachers at these licensed daycare centers feel that their young charges need extra help, or that they might have some difficulty interacting with other children, they will first talk things over with the parents to find out if there is any particular reason for this, or whether they need to have some early special help to get their learning and socialization skills a jump start.

The ABCs of Running a Family Daycare

Posted by chris

Product Description
From The ABCs of Running a Family Daycare... "If you are thinking about starting a family daycare in your home, the first thing you should do is to determine how serious you are. Running a family daycare is a full-time career and it demands a great deal of energy, time, and patience. Not to mention the stress you have to deal with on a daily basis! "If you are planning to babysit for a while in order to pay some bills or until a better position comes along you should just take in a couple of kids and "babysit.' Babysitting is far different from providing childcare as a service. Babysitters just watch kids. They let the children play as they go about their daily housework, watch the 'soaps,' talk on the phone, fix dinner, and anxiously wait for the parents to come and get their kids. "A childcare provider, on the other hand, is a professional because, among other things, daycare is a business. It has joined the ranks of the fastest growing industry in the U.S. home-based businesses. Running a daycare is a way for mothers to work at home, have the luxury of caring for their own children, and avoid the high cost of daycare that other working mothers pay-all while making a higher than average salary...."

I am a college student and that is the only job that sounds like it would still guarantee me time with my son As in they are only open week days and close about 6. Plus maybe they it would let me work there for free day care on the hours I don't have school. So what would a daycare provider think of this?
