Question by CuriosityKillsMe: Any fun preschool activities for air transportation?
I've been trying to find fun air transportation activities for preschool children (ages ranging from 3 to 5) and I couldn't find much. Any ideas that could help me out?

You could work on gross motor skills and have them pretend to be airplanes, helicopters, etc. Also, you can watch Jay Jay the Jet Plane, or set up a dramatic play area about space...create a spaceship out of a box. You can get a large refrigerator box from certain stores.

Line the chairs up like they are seats in an airplane. Put a chair in the front for yourself, the pilot. Tell the class you are going on an airplane ride–read a story about riding in a plane to kind of get their imaginations rolling. Let the kids grab a backpack or stuffed animal or something else they would take on a real airplane. Pass out tickets, lead each child to his/her seat, then take your own seat. Pretend to take off (make sure you tell them to buckle their seat belts!) and talk about all the things you would see while looking out the window and on the plane it’s self. If you have an aide, she/he could be the flight attendant and pass out a little snack. You could pretend to see the kids’ houses and landmarks. You could ask the class where they were flying to. Make sure to make landing noises and lead the kids off the plane.
