Question by : What are some activities to do with Turkish preschoolers for Christmas?
I am an Asst. Teacher and I am having 9 Turkish preschoolers (2-4yrs.) visiting my job in Dec. I don't know where to start! I want to respect their culture and belief systems. If anyone knows of any websites or has any ideas please help. Thank you very much.

There is nothing very special about Christmas in Turkey,
(some visit churches- many of my friends go to St. Antuan Church in Beyoglu- and they are not Christians -
but the conservative people wouldn't visit any churches )
but in new year many folks go out to eat and have fun,
there are fireworks,
and many people buy pine trees and decorate them.

A figure of Santa Claus may offend some parents if they are very conservative,
but if you want to cut pine trees, and decorate them with cotton for snow
and use glittering glue,paper decorations and etc,
noone would mind.

You can also teach them some new year songs. Choose some without Santa. ( I think Jingle bells is fine for example )

I read to my sons class every week. We love this alot. I have done this for his sisters too I would eaven brin him in his baby seat to big sisters classs. Now Big sister gets out for lunch and goes to read with me.

Question by mindy: Does anyone know where to get information on preschools and activities for children?
My son is two and a half and I would like to give him a chance to make friends or at least have more social interactions with kids his age. He always loves playing with other kids at the park and such but other than that he has no other kids to play with. I don't know if I should join a mommy and me class, start him in preschool or what. Does anyone know of a good place to get information on Preschools or other activities? I am Looking for somewhere in the Morgantown, WV area.

Some cities have magazines that list all kinds of activities and preschools. Otherwise, look for MOPS or MOMS groups, ask your friends, join a church, go to library story times, hang out at a local park playscape. You will meet other moms and kids that way.

Question by Kelly: Veteran's Day Pre-School Activities?
Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has any activity ideas for nursery and preschool aged children for November 11th, Veteran's Day? We are off from school that day and I want to do an learning/creative activity with them the Monday before.

You could get photocopies of poppies and red tissue paper. Cut up the red tissue paper into small squares and have them available for the children to use. Have the children glue the red squares on to the poppy using the back of a pencil to glue the paper on like papier mache.
