Question by torpleydave: How much should I be paid to lead a 30 min. long preschool music performance?
I currently work for the company as a teacher, but this would be something extra, after my regular hours at an alternate location.

Best answer:

Answer by Heather S
I would ask them to allow you to log your hours when you do this project. And ask for time and a half... can't hurt to ask but don't take less than what you make per hour as a regular teacher. :D Good luck!

Question by janezanaddict: What age should my toddler start at a Head Start preschool program?
I am reluctant to let him go just yet. He will be 3 in April and I am a stay at home mom. I am also very worried that him not having any playmates is going to have a negative effect on him. We live 4 hours from our family and close friends. He is very social with anyone and everyone and also we take him to the playland in the mall to hang with others a few times a week. My main question, how long should I wait before putting him in preschool?

Best answer:

Answer by nargis
let him be at lest 4 years old

What Should Be In Your Child'S Preschool Curriculum?

What Should Be In Your Child's Preschool Curriculum?

Boston-area parents in search of preschools in Brookline or Brookline daycare centers offering a preschool program, might be surprised to discover how many different l curriculums there are for this age group. Some of the better-known preschool curriculums include Montessori and Reggio Emilia, but most preschools and daycare centers in Brookline tend to use a combination of curriculum models in their classrooms.

With each curriculum model having a different style of learning associated with it and variations of these models being used by preschools in Brookline, the question becomes how do parents determine which Brookline preschool curriculum is best for their child? The answer is that it really depends on your child’s learning style, temperament, age, developmental stage and your parenting philosophy.

What is the Purpose of a Preschool Curriculum?

While curriculums vary in terms of activities, learning, and teaching methods, the goals of the curriculum for preschoolers are essentially the same. Whether your child attends a Brookline daycare center with an age-appropriate program or one of Brookline’s preschools, programs for this age strive to enhance the social, intellectual, emotional, and cognitive development of the child.

What Should a Preschool Curriculum Include?

A typical preschool curriculum used in a Brookline childcare center, preschool or family daycare in Brookline will include activities that increase language and literary skills, as well as prepare children for math and science. Basic activities that foster these skills include identifying sizes, shapes, colors, and words, In addition, activities that focus upon developing the ability to recognize patterns and sequences in the form of numbers, shapes or letters should always be part of a preschool curriculum.

Enriched programs for Brookline preschool children will include reading stories, drawing pictures, writing practice and telling stories aloud. These activities may seem like "play" but in fact, they prepare children for reading and strengthen their language skills. Given that much learning for older children requires a solid foundation in reading and language skills, parents should ascertain this is included in the curriculum used by their Brookline preschool program. In addition, family daycare in Brookline for preschoolers should also foster early math skills such as counting, recognizing patterns, shapes and categories. In some cases, children may even be introduced to the concept of telling time.

When evaluating a program’s curriculum, there is one thing to keep in mind. Regardless of the Brookline preschool program you choose, the activities presented to the children should be engaging and provide ample opportunities to learn and masters skills upon which a lifetime of learning may be built.

I am going to be switching from a group daycare company to an at home daycare. I was given some references but since I have never dealt with an at home daycare I am not sure what to ask the references. Can anyone give me a list of good questions to ask the references?

If I work 30 hours a week, and pay for 1 infant in daycare, I will have to give up half of my pay check to daycare.

Is it worth it to pay for daycare, work 30 hours a week and then have $700 left over from my pay check every month?

I guess I have a problem of being away from an infant for so much time a month just to have $700 in my pocket to show for it.

What do you think? If you are in the same situation, is it worth it to you?

And when I have two children I won't even bother working since I would have $200 at the most left over from my paycheck after paying for daycare expenses.

My husband and I were married 3 years ago. He has 3 children from a previous marriage, I have 3 children also, and we have a one year old together. I have a degree in early childhood education. We are in the process of opening a childcare center in our town. We are a corporation with me owning 51% and my husband with 49%. I asked him to get something drawn up by our attorney stating that if he was to pass away his interest in the daycare would revert to me. I do not own any property or vechiles. It is all in his name. I will not inherent anything from the home we live in, it will all go to his children. I don't think I am being unfair in this matter. It would be like asking him to split his retirement in half with me children and he would just have to live on half of it. What do you think? Am I asking too much?

You may wonder what kind of business you would like to open. Daycare is a good reason to start a business. Mostly, both parents are working and they need a safe place for their children and at the same time their children will be educated as well. Parents are usually relying on daycare center for their children.

More mothers are forced to look for a job outside home to help their husband financially for settling their bills. For this reason they need to find a safe place for their children while they were working.

Due to current high economy mothers are also forced to work. Another reason is divorce rate, single mother also need to work to seek income to provide food and shelter for their children.

Daycare center is great and very convenient for working mother. Daycare centers are in demand nowadays and became very popular which continues to grow. There are many parents having a happy memory in spending in daycare. They could see how their children learn at the early age and daycare coordinators teach them on how to get along with their schoolmate. Children can learn other good values that they should have. They make the children show their talents.

Daycare is profitable business. Many mothers put their children in daycare because daycares are more than glorified baby sitting service. Children develop at the age of six, putting your children in a daycare can help your child in exposure to the world he/she lives in and it is also a preparation for your child formal education. The child will learn how to associate with his/her schoolmate in daycare. It could also lessen the child’s tantrum when you put him/her in daycare.

Most parents want their children to be educated at the early age not for baby sitting only. Other daycares teach different kind of activities like swimming, dancing and other activities which are appropriate for children. But other parents prefer to leave their children near their home rather than where they work. Most daycares are operated in residential neighborhood. These daycares are less expensive and affordable than private daycare owned by big companies.

Daycare center operated in residential area should not be feel threaten by private daycare owned by big company because most parents want to leave their children close to their homes and it is more affordable. Before opening your own daycare center you must know all the rules and regulations in operating a day care center. The government has imposed rules and regulations in opening a day care center. Consider the place and facility you will need in opening a daycare center.

Should I leave her and move on?

Posted by chris

Well here is the lowdown... I was at a low point in my life for awhile. I have a son he is 2 years old... well me and my ex broke up about 9 months ago.. and she moved about 3 hours away and we stayed out of contact because we were fighting over the breakup.. well for the last 2 months or soo. I Contacted her and let her know that I want to be a huge part in my sons life.. I cleaned up my act sobered up and moved back to my parents even closer to them now. well we start talking and I start getting my son every-weekend now.. I got a job and were working things out.. I still Love her I do, and I want us to be together for our son and work things out for the best in the long run and our kid has autism which is a huge burdon on the both of us.. She tells me she still loves me too and has never let go.. and still thinks about getting married and be a happy family and care for our son.. I cant stand seeing my son everyweekend I want to see him everday its bullshit. well since then.. she has met a new guy. some 25 year old construction worker with kids already. keep in mind she just turned 21 and our son just turned 2.. Im fine with her dating other people.. it hurt at first but I got over it soo whatever. anyway Im not sure what to do.. because about 2 months ago we have the getting back together talk.. she told me I have to get my life straight and get a job and we will work things out.. well what did I do.. I moved to my parents and became sober and went out and got a job right away.. im not asking for her to come running back into my arms but I want her to take a step twoards it. its not much atm im only making 10.00 an hour but its better then nothing.. and its off to a new future. If she dosent want to go to get back together I wish she would just tell me the truth because that way we can go to court and We can work something out so i can have my son like 3 days a week and ever other weekend.. She dosent want to go to court because she likes to have the power to tell me "sorry im busy you cant see your son today" or something like that... What I dont understand is the past two weekend I took my son and her to Legoland one weekend then Knotts the next weekend.. and she is all about going out when I want to take her and my son somewhere. but when I dont have no money she just gives me my son and goes out and does her own thing on the weekend... I am not getting crazy about anything I am giving her her time.. I think she is lying to me about everything she does... I am with my son right now.. well she is supposedly at a training day for work this weekend and all her childcare centers are at it.. but what I find funny is that one of her coworkers sends her a message on my-space while she is at the meeting.. WTF?? it sounds like a lie to me. She works all week and has the weekend off.. I get my son on the weekend.. Im not sure what to think.. is she using me to go out on the weekend and not have to take care of her son. or do I just need to give it more time? Im sure if i asked her lets go to disneyland next weekend she would be sure as hell down to go.. but if i ask her to come down to my parents house and spend some time as a family she wont do it.. she will just blow me off.. What do you guys think i should do? Sorry my typing is all messed up I tried to type fast as possible before my son wakes up from his nap.. =D. Should I just leave her and move on? or should I give her more time to make her decision.. I cant stand her new bf seeing my son more then I do.. thats completely bullshit.. he has autism he dosent deserve this type of split up partnership.. He needs both of us to be there for him everyday. He needs a Solid Relationship Even if it means sacrificing something to make it work out between us. What should I do? sorry if some of this is a lil mixed up lol he is running around right now.. i gotta go.. lemme know what you guys think.. Thanks
I have told her how i feel 100%. so she knows that... She is a great mother and loves her son more then anything.. I just dont understand her.. she wont talk to me about her feelings when i ask.. I tell her im there to talk but she keeps me in the dark.. yet she says she still loves me.. Im not depressed about us breaking up anymore its just all the bullshit thats going on ya know..
Yhea your right about the myspace thing Im not saying anything for sure. just an assumption. I just hope she is not lying to me.. I would rather know the truth so i can better make my decisions in life.
Thanks for the answers guys. This is my first time posting about my personal life.. It helps that other people listen and help.
Well its getting late.. she txt me asking how he was doing.. I tried to call her to talk about our day and tell her how much fun we had together (me and my son) and she ignores my calls.. Haha wtf is wrong with her? I bet I wont get a call from her till like 10 tonight or something saying I just got home.
she picks up the phone and tells me.. Im on a fucking date what do you want...

In Boys Should Be Boys, one of our most trusted authorities helps parents restore the delights of boyhood and enable today’s boys to become the mature, confident, and thoughtful men of tomorrow. Boys will always be boys–rambunctious, adventurous, and curious, climbing trees, building forts, playing tackle football, and pushing their growing bodies to the limit as part of the rite of passage into manhood. But today our sons face an increasingly hostile world that doesn’t value the high-spirited, magical nature of boys. In a collective call to let our boys be boys, Dr. Meg Meeker explores the secrets to boyhood, including

• why rules and boundaries are crucial–and why boys feel lost without them
• how the outdoors is still the best playground, offering the sense of adventure that only Mother Nature can provide
• the essential ways to preserve a boy’s innocence (and help him grow up)
• the pitfalls moms and dads face when talking to their sons
• why moody and rebellious boys are not normal–and how to address such behavior
• how and when the “big” questions in life should be discussed: why he is here, what his purpose is, and why he is important

Parents are blessed with intuition and heart, but raising sons is a daunting responsibility. This uplifting guide makes the job a little easier.

I just found out a few days ago the girl that there going to place me with I can not stand. She has a bad attitued and complains about everything. I worked with her for a few months before so I know I'm not just coming up with this. How should I say to my manager in a nice way that this girl is b**** and I do not want to work with her?
